The impact of globalization on networks and relationship dynamics
When the IMP Conference opens in Glasgow from August 30 till September 3 2011, it will be the 27th Annual Conference of the IMP Group. The IMP Conference brings together an informal network of researchers who are interested in the problems that confront marketers and purchasers in complex business networks. The conference has always had a friendly, informal and supportive atmosphere in which to present and exchange ideas.
The Doctoral Consortium which precedes the main conference has become a key feature of the annual conference and is an internationally recognised resource for research students. In a typically year, the number of faculty running the consortium will equal the number of doctoral students so there is every opportunity to engage in discussion with senior faculty, to network and to learn from your peers.
The IMP Group of researchers have contributed in the past to the Business literature by exploring business marketing and purchasing from a number of perspectives: The group’s “Interaction Approach” was initially applied to the study of the relationships between marketers and purchasers. This has been developed into research that has examined the connections between companies and their relationships across complex networks. The IMP Conference continues to explore and develop B2B theory in the dynamically changing environment found today and welcomes conceptual and empirical contributions in business marketing, purchasing, relationship and network analysis, logistics, strategic management and studies relating to both micro and macro-business contexts.
The annual IMP Conference is the largest international gathering of researchers and instructors in the field of business marketing and purchasing, drawing participants from Europe, the Americas, Asia, Australia and New Zealand. The conference tracks will deal with both traditional IMP research themes as well as topics of strong current interest such as sustainable development, environmental issues and the impact of developments in IT on business activity.
